Wedding Planners...don't leave the single life without one

In the old days, when a dad escorted his "little girl" down the aisle, few guests knew that if she weren't holding onto his arm... she'd probably collapse. That's what organizing her own wedding did to a woman - with collateral damage often taking Mom down as well. We think that's why a Higher Power invented wedding planners. Here's our very short A-list of the East End's absolute best.

AND IF YOU FALL FOR ET... If her life had run on a different track, Corinne Soikin Strauss of Hampton Wedding could have been a star in the Diplomatic Corps, or as the White House's Chief of Protocol. Before we elaborate, know that Corinne is a consummate pro in the "nuts and bolts" of planning a wedding - your big day will flow seamlessly and with balletic grace with her at the helm. That's the science of her calling. The art of it lies in her sensitivity to the "human" details that touch the heart and imprint themselves on memory in ways your camera people will never capture. Corinne is a legend in the business for her skill at making "cross-cultural" weddings beautiful and moving. The delicate hand that can pull off that trick - reliably, and time after time - is very hard to find. Remember: While two peolpe are exchanging vows up front, seated behind them are two whole clans that are now, like it or not, being joined together as "family" too. Corinne's own spiritual depth and her love for people serve her well when different cultures meet at the altar. To her, a wedding is so much more than a resaon to party afterward. Here's just one Corinne story: She was working with a young Chinese woman who was marrying into a "very" Irish-Polish Catholic family. The bride insisted on a traditional Western wedding becasue she wanted to please her new in-laws. Corinne strongly urged the woman to include a Chinese tea ceremony. She knew that the bride's grandmother would be making the long trip to the United States for the wedding, and she was determined to honor the grandmother's presence. On the day of the wedding, Grandma, beautifully dressed in traditional Chinese festal garments, was deeply touched by the inclusion of the tea ceremony in the nuptials. Years later, the bride still thanks Corinne for insisting on this small but perfect touch for her wedding - this little grace note of the heart.
